Slow day in the rain, but we managed to find a cafe which had Churros so not a bad start.
We went for a walk around the city, getting our bearings. These small streets running between plazas make for some confusing walking. We walked all around the cathedral and then up through the Albaycin, which is said to be the best preserved Moorish Quarter left in Spain. Very interesting and we agreed to return another time in better weather for some photo-ops. Still raining, not much to report.
Around the cathedral you see many stalls with people
selling everything you can imagine like spices.
Here you can see how they display them, very colourful.
The EU ministers are meeting here this weekend. Some of the streets are blocked and there are many police around. Good to see they could find work after the Olympics.
There was a bi protest in the Plaza Nueva. People wanting a Sahara Libre. Can anybody tell me what that means? I did know the Sahara was not free.
The Alhambra was closed today so the EU ministers could visit. Nice to have a private tour. Tomorrow we will go up. Hope is is not raining!
I want some ice cream now! haha
ReplyDeleteYou would go out of your mind trying to choose a flavour! It is sooo good but we have so little time to try them
